Gartner predicts that, by 2020, 75% of organizations will experience visible business disruptions due to infrastructure and operations (I&O) management skills gaps, up from less than 20% in 2016. Given the lack of digital dexterity for hire, I&O leaders must begin by developing these skills with the talent they already have.
But how did we get here in the first place, and, more importantly, what action is needed to help fix things? Having the right people with the right skills at appropriate levels, is essential for all organisations. Most companies don’t have an accurate inventory of the available skills of their current IT workforces, so this must be a first step. In this interactive session, Matthew Burrows will introduce attendees to the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), sharing case studies from organizations that have already overcome the “What skills do you have, and what do you need?” challenge. Attendees will walk away with the tools to start their own individual skills assessment, as well as an actionable plan for their own teams, departments, and organizations.
